Upon receiving an invitation to a friends party Throne had noticed that the privacy settings we left as open to the public. Thorne, proceeded to inform all of his twitter followers attracting over 60,0000 “attendees” to the event, demonstrating 1. the power of social media 2. The importance of ensuing privacy is protected. Thorne was quoted as saying: “It’s important, regardless of individual privacy settings, to treat all information that you include on these social networking sites as completely public and include personal information appropriately,” he said. The party was eventually cancelled and the page removed however the addition of facebook fan pages such as “We met at Kate’s Party”, “Kate’s party would have gone off” have surfaced.
